Sample Information Requests from Government Officials

Federal law allows you to request public information from the government unless there is a compelling reason not to release it. After all, it's your government; you paid for it. To that end, there are formal procedures for requesting the information, or challenging the denial of your request. In addition, sometimes government records are incorrect, and you may request a correction of the record.

When investigating an invitation to bid, you can request the names of the bidding companies, the items and prices quoted, and other information, which can be useful in deciding whether to bid on a government contract.
